Although it was a very soggy start the day did clear up and we had a great day at this biannual event.
I don't think any of us knew what to expect when we said we would display our cars at this as it was the events inuagral year. Turns out it was a great day, we had trucks on display and racing round the track, plenty of car racing action and our healthy display of RS's in the V.I.P area behind the main grandstand. It was one of those days when you 'had to be there' as as a group we were laughing at each other for most of the day, the highlight being 'Bob' doing parade laps round the circuit with the theame from 'The Magnificent Seven' blasting from his car. Quality.
The weather foreast wasn't good for this show and with the meomries of last years washout in our minds we was expecting much of the same this year.
Luckily it stayed dry with no wind all day which made for a great day out, the club stand was busy with new faces and regulars poping in for a chat. There wasn't as many cars on display or traders this year but thats not to take anything away from one of the best classic car shows around and its local, happy days. It wa an early start on a lovely summers morning, the convoy left Thurrock Services around 06:20 and was an impresive sight as we travelled up the M1. We were quickly through the gates and parked up in our compact display area around 08:30.
Once parked everyone pitched in to raise the cannon shelter and get breakfast on the go, with stomachs full on bacon and tea we were free to enjoy the day . I wasn't at this one as I was attending the RSOC Riegional event at Knockhill, looks like a good time was had by all, enjoy the pictures
Really good day out, plenyt of track action and cars of all shapes and sizes. The weather was kind with only a short sharp shower near home time, the sun evan cam out for a while.
Thanks to everyone who came out, we had a great display and a really friendly atmosphere. |
